BEIRUT, LEBANON (12:00 A.M.) – The air defense system of the Russian Southern Military District revealed, Friday, that their warplanes intercepted an American Air Force reconnaissance plane over the Black Sea waters.

“On June 26, 2020, forces operating in the air defense of the Southern Military Region revealed that US Air Force reconnaissance aircraft overflew the neutral Black Sea waters and were accompanied by a Russian fighter,” the Russian Defense Ministry stated .

According to a statement of the Russian Ministry of Defense, an Su-30 fighter from the Black Sea Fleet was deployed from the Air Defense Forces in the southern military region in order to intercept the targets. The U.S. Navy P-8A Poseidon, a strategic reconnaissance aircraft RC-135 and a refueling plane from the U.S. Air Force KS-135, immediately changed the direction of the flight away from the borders of the Russian state. ”

The statement added that the Russian fighter crew adhered to the regulations for the use of international airspace, since after the completion of the mission the Russian fighter returned safely to its base.

It is noteworthy to mention that the American Air Force planes were under the supervision of Russian radars, which is at a great distance from the country’s borders.
