BEIRUT, LEBANON (3:20 P.M.) – The Russian military has reportedly arrived at the outskirts of Busra Al-Sham this morning, as the rebel forces prepare to handover their heavy and medium weapons.
The Russian forces were seen traveling to the historical city this morning in preparation for the reconciliation deal that was agreed upon 48 hours ago.
As shown in the footage below, the Russian convoy reached the outskirts of Busra Al-Sham, while soldiers from the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) watched from afar:
Busra Al-Sham is an imperative city that is located just north of the Jordanian border and directly west of the Al-Sweida Governorate.
With Busra Al-Sham under a reconciliation deal, the Syrian government will have full control of the Al-Sweida provincial border for the first time in several years.
Furthermore, there is a large number of displaced civilians from Busra Al-Sham that are currently living in the Al-Sweida Governorate.
These displaced civilians will be able to return to their homes for the first time since they fled the city in March of 2015.
