DAMASCUS, SYRIA (1:15 A.M.) – The Syrian and Russian air forces are working overtime tonight, striking several areas under the control of the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) in eastern Syria.

A Russian air battalion led the way tonight, targeting the Islamic State’s positions inside the Deir Ezzor Governorate.

The Russian attack was followed by a series of Syrian airstrikes at the Al-Hawiqah District of Deir Ezzor; this resulted in the destruction of 5 Islamic State vehicles, including 1 bulldozer and tank.

In addition to the attack on Deir Ezzor, the Syrian and Russian air force struck the Islamic State’s defenses at the Al-Sha’er Oil Fields, paving the way for another Syrian Army advance near Well 101.

The Russian and Syrian air forces conducted over 55 airstrikes above eastern Syria tonight, killing dozens of Islamic State combatants in the process.
