BEIRUT, LEBANON (4:25 P.M.) – Russian and Syrian jets continued their wide-scale aerial assault against the Islamic State (ISIS) forces in eastern Syria today, striking several of the terrorist group’s installations across the Deir Ezzor Governorate.
Russian and Syrian air squadrons reportedly flew from both the Al-Qamishli Airport and Hmaymim Airfields to carry out these airstrikes in Deir Ezzor, a military source told Al-Masdar News today.
The two air forces would concentrate on the Islamic State’s positions west of the provincial capital, hitting targets at the Thardeh Mountains, Al-Shoula village, and Tayyim Oil Fields.
These airstrikes would cause severe damage to the Islamic State’s defenses, forcing them to hold off attacking the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) at the Deir Ezzor Military Airport.
Over the last 72 hours, the Syrian and Russian air forces have launched nonstop airstrikes above the Deir Ezzor Governorate in an attempt to disrupt the Islamic State’s oil transport.
