BEIRUT, LEBANON (5:05 P.M.) – The Syrian and Russian air forces continued their wide-scale bombing campaign against the Islamic State (ISIS) today, striking several of the terrorist group’s oil refineries and fields across eastern Syria.

Russian and Syrian air squadrons flew from the Al-Qamishli and Hmaymim airports to the Deir Ezzor and Homs governorates, where they carried out more than 40 airstrikes on Monday.

According to a military source, the primary target for the Russian and Syrian jets were the Islamic State’s gas fields in Sukhanah (Homs) and the Deir Ezzor Governorate’s vast array of oil fields located between Al-Mayadeen and the provincial capital.

The Syrian and Russian air forces have conducted airstrikes over the Deir Ezzor Governorate every day this month.
