DAMASCUS, SYRIA (1:00 P.M.) – In the past 24 hours, more than twenty airstrikes by the Russian Airspace Forces (RuAF) and Syrian Arab Air Force (SyAAF) targeted the Islamic State (ISIS) stronghold of ‘Uqayrbat in the eastern countryside of the Hama governorate
The relentless airstrikes come as the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) is preparing to launch a large-scale offensive in the area to wipe ISIS from eastern Hama.
A few days ago, Al-Masdar reported the SAA’s 4th Mecanized Division and the 5th Corps, algong with Russian Marines, were on their way to eastern Hama.
Currently, ‘Uqayrbat is the main ISIS stronghold remaining in the Hama governorate.
According to Al-Masdar sources, the SAA offensive on ‘Uqayrbat could start within days.
