BEIRUT, LEBANON (8:15 P.M.) – Six Tu-22M3 strategic bombers of the Russian Aerospace Forces conducted strikes from an undisclosed airfield against so-called Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) infrastructure in the city of Abu Kemal, in Deir Ezzor province, on Thursday.

The airstrike was aimed at militant strongholds, command points, and warehouses with ammunition and weapons.

The attack is the second of its kind in the past two days. On Wednesday, the Russian Ministry of Defence confirmed that six long-range Tu-22M3 bombers launched an air strike on Abu-Kemal.
