BEIRUT, LEBANON (3:30 P.M.) – The Russian national football team held a training session in Novogorsk on Sunday ahead of their World Cup game against Egypt on June 19.
The match at Saint Petersburg Stadium will be the second for both teams in the World Cup. Russia beat Saudi Arabia 5-0 in the opening game on Thursday, while Egypt lost 0-1 to Uruguay on Friday.
Russia are in Group A alongside Uruguay, Saudi Arabia and Egypt.
Russian midfielder Alan Dzagoev said that the team watched the Egypt-Uruguay game and described the Egyptian national team as “very good, well-organised. It keeps the pressure on and has a good defence. Of course, the [Egyptian team’s] class is higher than Saudi Arabia but I hope that the victory will be ours. We hope for a positive outcome of the match.”
