DAMASCUS, SYRIA (1:25 P.M.) – Russian Ministry of Defense says it is checking the information about possible liquidation of the leader of the so-called “Islamic State”, Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi.

According to MoD, on May 28, Russian Air Force conducted an air raid on southern outskirts of Raqqa city where a meeting of IS commanders was being held at the time.

As a result of the airstrikes, several high-ranking commanders along with about 30 field commanders and up to 300 militants were neutralized, according to MoD official statement.

Among those liquidated were Abu Al-Hajji Al-Misri (emir of Raqqa), Ibrahim Al-Naef Al-Hajj (he controlled the whole region between Raqqa and Sukhnah cities) and Suleiman Al-Shawah (head of IS internal security).

In addition to that, some reports indicate that IS leader Al-Baghdadi was present at the meeting as well and was killed as a result of airstrikes along with his associates, MoD claimed.

This information is currently “being checked through different channels”, MoD officials added.

Multiple reports about Baghdadi’s possible death have been circulating for almost two years now, with none of them proven to be true so far.

If indeed the Russian investigations prove without doubt that Baghdadi is dead that is very good news. The bonus of course are the deaths of some of his top terror henchmen and hopefully there were US,NATO,Saudi, Israeli advisers there as well.
