BEIRUT, LEBANON (11:30 A.M.) – The Russian Ministry of Defense said on Saturday that the militants from Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham have delivered chemical weapons to the Idlib Governorate.

“Militants of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham delivered several containers with chlorine in the settlement of Basankul in Idlib province,” head of Russia’s Center for Syrian Reconciliation Lt. Gen. Vladimir Savchenko said on Saturday.

The center urged leaders of the opposition groups to refrain from provocations which undermine the political process, he added.

The Russian Reconciliation Center did not provide information on how they came across this information.

In their past claims, the Russian Reconciliation Center said that local operatives observed the jihadist rebels move chemical weapons to the Idlib Governorate.

Chlorine is a multi purpose every day chemical. To weaponize it You need 8-12 tons per hectare. This hysteria comes directly from US stupidity that makes a big propaganda show even about a single canister/bottle of chlorine gas.

p.s. Without chlorine You can hardly run a swimming pool or a water supply for a town let alone a drug factory.

No, you don’t need that much. In Douma they needed only a hole in a roof and a photograph of a 50 liter canister with traces of chlorine on it in a bed to justify a 100 cruise missile bombardment.

@Harrie, data from WW I indicate how much You need.

US claims about chlorine are just a pretext. And they facilitate that terrorists can instigate a false flag with an everyday commercial gas.

Yes, the strongest indicator that it’s all false flag are the timing and the motivation. It would be very stupid for Assad to invite US, UK and France to participate in the war, while the use of the chlorine gas against civilians to hasten the surrender of the jihadhi fighters does not make much sens.

My opinion is the same. It makes no military sense. It will invite foreign aggressors.

Plus. It take more chlorine than Syria opposition or government side can produce. So all that remains is to use limited amounts and only the terrorists can profit from that.

BTW. Gas masks effective against chlorine are a simple item to produce.

Well, the question I already asked and nobody answered : If SVR, GRU or whatever has located the chemicals transfers, why not having bombed them?
Thermobarics’ heat would break all molecules neutralising ANY CW and… the roaches around too…

Guess they found out late.

BTW. You can neutralize any real fighting gas by heat.
But You cannot neutralize chlorine that way. Blink.

Thermobaric bombs make a lot of hot gas, that rises quickly. It would disperse the chlorine gas high in the atmosphere.
Problem is the jihadhis will store the gas “safely” in urban centers.
Only when you know a gas truck is on the road you could bomb it.

@Harrie, true for the provocative amounts of chlorine the terrorists are likely to own and “safely” store.

p.s. Hard to safely disperse 24 tons of chlorine in a gas truck. I would not bomb it.

Look at wikipedia. There have been a lot of accidents with chlorine transports. When it’s not in an urban area the amount of casualties can be limited (considering a wartime situations).
I lived in a town where in a railway accident in the middle of the town a train wagon with chlorine rolled from a hill. There could have been 100.000 people killed they said then.
