More than a dozen types of aircraft and helicopters are being modernized on the basis of combat use in Syria, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said during a meeting today.

“Based on the data received, 11 types of aircraft and helicopters are being modernized,” the minister said.

According to him, at the present, the collection and analysis of information on the results of the combat deployment of more than 60 serial and prospective models of military equipment of the Russian Federation Air Force in the Syrian operation are continuing.

“To assess the combat capabilities of the military equipment being developed, in February this year, practical launches of promising cruise missiles of operational-tactical designation from the fifth-generation Su-57 aircraft were carried out,” the minister said.
