BEIRUT, LEBANON (4:00 P.M.) – The Russian military accused the U.S. of prohibiting refugees from returning to their homes in Syria, as their presence in the southern part of the country has deterred people from reaching government lines.
According to the Interfax News Agency, the Russian military has called on the U.S. to end its occupation of the Al-Tanf region in southern Syria.
Furthermore, the Russian military demanded that the U.S. withdraw their forces from the area around the Rukban Refugee Camp.
The Russian military said that the situation at the Rukban Refugee Camp is becoming unbearable for the people there, as a new report revealed that at least 100 people died as a result of the poor hygienic situation there.
“All these circumstances are leading to a high mortality rate. Over 100 people died in Rukban last month. I confirm the difficult, catastrophic situation in Rukban,” Russian Health Ministry official Sergei Grabchak said on Friday.
