BEIRUT, LEBANON (4:00 P.M.) – Early reports have surfaced from southern Syria indicating that a Russian military convoy was targeted by a roadside bommb in the eastern part of the Dara’a Governorate.
According to the report, the Russian military convoy was traveling down the Busra-Shahoah Road, when a roadside bomb was detonated.
No casualties have been reported at this time nor can Al-Masdar confirm this report.
The claims first surfaced on pro-government media pages this afternoon; however, the Russian military has yet to issue any statement corroborating these claims.
Free Syrian Army (FSA) sleeper cells have been active in southern Syria since the start of the new year; they often target Syrian Army checkpoints and convoys inside the Dara’a and Al-Quneitra governorates.
