Similar to other Russian military contractors, Vegacy Strategic Services is often entrenched with the Syrian Arab Army and other pro-government militias, as they provide not only training but also advisory services to these groups.

Several Russian military contractors have been killed since 2015, with the majority of these personnel killed during a U.S. Coalition attack in 2017.

The Russian contractors were reportedly entrenched with a group of soldiers from the  National Defense Forces (NDF) and Syrian Arab Army when the U.S. Coalition launched what they called a ‘retaliatory’ strike against the pro-government troops.
