BEIRUT, LEBANON (11:30 P.M.) – The Russian Air Force has been conducting several flights over the Idlib and Hama countrysides as the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and their allies continue to buildup their forces in northwestern Syria.

According to a military source in the Hama province, the Russian Air Force has been conducting several flights over northwestern Syria in response to the attempted drone strikes by the jihadist rebels.

The military source said that the Russian reconnaissance planes are specifically flying over the designated buffer zone in the Hama and Idlib governorates, as they stalk the rebel forces near this demilitarized area.

Looks like an Antonov An-24/26/30/32 SyAAF has some and I don’t recall Russia having sent some. Not really a recon aircraft, although you can do recon with barely anything. Syria missed an opportunity with their turboprop cargo aircraft, they could have customised these, AC-130 style. Even shooting ATGMs like Kornet can be interesting.
