BEIRUT, LEBANON (5:00 P.M.) - Minutes ago, the Russian Air Force unleashed a fury of airstrikes over the eastern countryside of the Aleppo Governorate, targeting the Islamic State's (ISIS) defenses at the southern outskirts of Al-Bab city.
According to a military source in Aleppo, the Russian Air Force conducted at least a dozen airstrikes over Al-Bab's southern countryside, hitting Islamic State targets around the small villages of 'Aran and Tadif.
The aforementioned villages are located just a few kilometers north of the Syrian Arab Army's (SAA) positions in the Al-Bab Plateau region of east Aleppo; if the latter were to attack the city, then these would be their first targets.
There has been much speculation regarding the Syrian Army's next military operation in east Aleppo, with Al-Bab being the consensus pick for several observers of this conflict.
While Al-Masdar News cannot confirm whether or not the Syrian Arab Army will attack Al-Bab, we can confirm there is a very large presence of military personnel near the Kuweires Airbase.
