DAMASCUS, SYRIA (10:00 P.M.) – At least five pinpoint Russian airstrikes struck Douma city on Monday evening in an air raid over eastern Damascus which reportedly targeted a meeting between high-ranking Jaish Al-Islam commanders.
The Russian Air Force has increased its sorties over the East Ghouta in response to insurgents repeatedly shelling the Russian embassy in Damascus over the past month.
Meanwhile, the Syrian Arab Army has cutoff Barzeh from the neighboring Qaboun suburb in a campaign which has completely isolated the districts from other rebel-held areas.
Once Barzeh and Al-Qaboun fall into government hands, the SAA is expected to resume its operations in the East Ghouta in a bid to secure the Syrian capital and free up manpower.
