Palmyra, Syria (7:15 A.M.) – The Russian Air Force continued their aerial campaign from the Iranian Hamedan Airbase on Thursday, striking the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) at a number of sites in the vast Syrian Desert.
Russian Su-34 fighter jets began the day by bombarding the Islamic State terrorists in the Deir Ezzor Governorate, destroying a large weapons depot in Ayyash village, while also hitting targets in Al-Jufra and Al-Muri’iyah.
Following the airstrikes over Deir Ezzor, the Russian fighter jets turned their attention to Palmyra’s eastern countryside, targeting the natural gas rich villages that are located along the International Highway to the Deir Ezzor Governorate.
Among the many sites targeted by the Russian Air Force was the desert town of ‘Arak, which has been an Islamic State stronghold since May of 2015.
Russian fighter jets hammered the Islamic State’s positions in ‘Arak, destroying several armored vehicles that were positioned at the natural gas fields.
