BEIRUT, LEBANON (10:00 A.M.) – The Russian Air Force stepped up their strikes over northern Syria on Thursday, hitting several sites controlled by the jihadists of Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham.

According to an army source in northern Syria, the Russian Air Force began their strikes on Thursday by targeting the jihadist stronghold of Kabani in northeastern Latakia.

The army source said Russian attack choppers led the attack, inflicting heavy damage on the defenses of Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham and the Turkestan Islamic Party.

Following the strikes on northeast Latakia, the Russian Air Force’s jets from the Hmeimim (var. Khmeimim) unleashed a powerful attack on the southern countryside of the Idlib Governorate.

The source said the Russian Air Force repeatedly struck Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham’s positions at the town of Rakaya, marking the fourth time this week that they have targeted this part of southern Idlib.

Since the Turkish Army and their militant allies began their northern Syria operation, the Russian and Syrian air forces have intensified their strikes on the jihadist rebel positions in both the Latakia and Idlib governorates.
