There is without a doubt that since Russian intervention began in Syria on September 30, 2015, that the Syrian war has turned in favor of the Syrian Arab Army.
Although the daily airstrikes against terrorist positions are well documented and praised, little is revealed about the training that Russian military advisers provide to the Syrian Arab Army.
It is known that effective airstrikes complemented with a competent ground force will see results. This has been the primary failure of the US-led coalition airstrikes in Syria as they are not coordinated with a reliable and effective ground force. With heavy coordination in the few months since Russia’s involvement, the Syrian Arab Army have made repaid gains in southern Syria, have almost completely liberated Latakia province, defend Deir Ezzor which is a Syrian government held enclave surrounded by ISIS, and have made slow advancements in Damascus province and eastern Homs province.
The Russian influence is not limited to just its airstrikes, but its effective training of Syrian Arab Army soldiers.
The following video demonstrates one such training regiment of Syrian snipers.
