DAMASCUS, SYRIA (2:25 P.M.) – Battles in the northern countryside of Hama continue with the Syrian forces carry on its assault after foiling a massive jihadi attack last week.

With heavy support from the Russian combat choppers, the Syrian Army managed – yesterday – to recapture Um Hartin and Qubibat Abu al-Huda villages after fierce clashes with the jihadi militants of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham.

However, the troops withdrew in the wake of a ferocious counteroffensive last night, only to re-storm the village this morning under heavy rocket and artillery shelling.

Meanwhile, the Russian combat helicopters are heavily bombing jihadi positions in Atshan; a village located to the north of Um Hartin and is widely considered as a major bastion for the al-Qaeda-affiliate fighters.
