BEIRUT, LEBANON (7:40 A.M.) – The Russian Aerospace Forces launched a massive counter-attack against the jihadist rebels in the northeastern countryside of the Latakia Governorate last night.
According to a military report from the coastal city of Jableh, the Russian Aerospace Forces launched over 30 airstrikes above the Jisr Al-Shughour District of Idlib and Jabal Al-Akrad region of northeastern Latakia.
The Russian jets primarily concentrated on the supply lines of Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham from the Jisr Al-Shughour District to the mountaintop town of Kabbani in the Jabal Al-Akrad region.
This powerful counter-attack by the Russian Aerospace Forces was launched in retaliation for the jihadist assault on the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) troops in the Jabal Al-Akrad and Jabal Turkman regions of Latakia.
As shown in the video below, the Russian Aerospace Forces struck the jihadist rebels along the Latakia-Hama-Idlib provincial axes in the Jabal Al-Akrad region:
In the coming days, the Russian Aerospace Forces will likely intensify their airstrikes over this jihadist-held region of the Idlib, Latakia, and Hama governorates.
Despite the presence of the Turkish military in the Latakia, Idlib, and Hama governorates, the jihadist rebels have still carried out attacks against the Syrian Arab Army and their allies in northwestern Syria.
The purpose of these Turkish observation posts in northern Syria is to prevent any violence between the jihadist and government forces; however, the former continues to launch unprovoked attacks on the SAA and their allies.
