The Russian Air Force carried out a significant number of airstrikes on Friday night and Saturday morning, hitting several installations belonging to the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham near the Hama-Raqqa axis in northern Syria.
Among the many targets for the Russian Air Force was the Tabaqa Military Airport that is located in the western countryside of the Al-Raqqa Governorate.
This large military installation in the Al-Raqqa Governorate is used by the terrorist group to train new recruits and house a large number of their fighters.
The Russian Air Force has specifically targeted this military facility due to its strategic location and large stock of weapons, ammunition, and military supplies that ISIS relies on.
According to a military source from the Syrian Air Defense, the Russian fighter jets conducted several air raids over the Tabaqa Military Airport, striking any vehicles leaving this imperative site.
In addition to their airstrikes over western Raqqa, the Russian Air Force also did a number on ISIS’ defenses in the east Hama countryside, killing a large number of ISIS combatants near the latter’s stronghold of ‘Aqayrbat.
