BEIRUT, LEBANON (10:10 P.M.) – The commander of the Russian Air Defense Forces, Alexander Leonov, announced that the Russian and Egyptian Air Defense Forces will hold joint exercises in 2021.
In statements to Russian media, Leonov confirmed that the exercises will take place on Russian soil, in the context of additional cooperation with specialists in the Egyptian and Russian air defense forces.
It is noteworthy that the air defense units in Russia’s southern military region participated for the first time in the “Friendship Arrow” exercises for the Air Defense Forces in Egypt last year on Egyptian soil.
The exercises were carried out in Egypt, from October 26 to November 7, 2019, in three stages.
The exercises were held to exchange experiences and develop military and technical cooperation between the two countries, and about 100 soldiers from the Fourth Army of the Air Force and Air Defense were involved in the southern military region.
