Over the last 48 hours in the Dara’a Governorate’s northern countryside, the Syrian Arab Army’s 15th Brigade of 5th Armored Division – in coordination with the National Defense Forces (NDF) of Izra’a – have advanced deep into the heart of Sheikh Miskeen after a series of violent firefights with the Free Syrian Army’s “Southern Front Brigades”.
On Monday morning, hundreds of reinforcements from the Syrian Arab Army’s 5th Armored Division in Izra’a arrived to the northern Dara’a front in order to help out their comrades at the northern and eastern flanks of Sheikh Miskeen.
These reinforcements proved helpful as the Syrian Arab Army’s 5th and 7th Armored Divisions captured 4 building blocks inside the strategic city of Sheikh Miskeen and most of the Battalion 82 base, which is also located just outside of the aforementioned city.
In addition to their advance at Sheikh Miskeen and Battalion 82 base, the Syrian Armed Forces also pushed west towards the large city of Nawa for the first time since they lost it to the Islamist rebels of the Free Syrian Army and Jabhat Al-Nusra (Syrian Al-Qaeda group).
Helping out the Syrian Arab Army from above, the Russian Air Force launched over 50 airstrikes along the Sheikh Miskeen-Nawa axis, killing several enemy combatants while also propelling the pro-government forces in northern Dara’a.
