BEIRUT, LEBANON (1:10 P.M) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) once again advanced in the western countryside of Palmyra (Tadmur) this week, liberating another site from the Islamic State (ISIS) militants at the outskirts of this ancient desert city.

Led by the 5th Legion and 18th Tank Division, the Syrian Arab Army liberated the Palmyra Communication Tower in the Eastern Bayarat area after a short battle with the retreating Islamic State forces.

Following the liberation of the Palmyra Communication Tower, the Syrian Arab Army began shelling the Islamic State forces at the nearby Al-Qadri Farms, as they prepare to storm this important area west of the city.

The Syrian Arab Army’s advance today was heavily backed by Russian airstrikes that pulverized the Islamic State’s defenses, paving the way for the government forces to seize the Communication Tower.
