BEIRUT, LEBANON (10:50 A.M.) Heavy Russian airstrikes have been observed in the city of Daraa. The renewed wave of Russian sorties which are targeting rebel positions in the militant-held districts of the city come with the expiration of the 48-hour ceasefire agreement that was implemented on Saturday at 12:00 P.M.

More specifically, Russian warplanes have carried out airstrikes in the districts of Daraa Al-Balad and Tareeq Al-Sad.

Rebel forces had been well informed that the initial 48-hour ceasefire was extendable on the grounds that their delegations worked with government authorities on creating a proper format for de-escalation within the city. In any case, with the expiry of the ceasefire terms and the lack of interest shown by rebel leaders for further negotiation, pro-government forces are to recommence offensive operations to liberate the city.
