BEIRUT, LEBANON (10:20 A.M.) – The Russian Air Force unleashed a powerful assault over the Idlib Governorate last night, targeting a number of sites near the city of Ariha.
Led by jets from the Hmeimim (var. Khemeimim) Airbase in Latakia, the Russian Air Force struck several sites belonging to Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham and their affiliates along the main highway near Ariha.
According to a military source in the nearby Latakia Governorate, the Russian Air Force was likely acting on an intelligence report they received from the local spies in the Idlib Governorate.
These types of attacks have become more prevalent for the Russian Air Force, as previous strikes in the Al-Ghaab Plain last week targeted a jihadist commander meeting.
Furthermore, last night’s attack by the Russian Air Force marked the second time in the last 48 hours that they have targeted a jihadist site inside the Idlib Governorate.
The attack that previously took place happened in the town of Kafr Nabl, which is currently under the control of Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham and their affiliates.
