BEIRUT, LEBANON (4:40 P.M.) – The Russian Aerospace Forces unleashed a powerful assault over southwest Syria, today, targeting several areas controlled by the rebel forces.
According to field report, the Russian Aerospace Forces launched several attacks over the rebel-held towns in southeast and southern Daraa.
The Russian Aerospace Forces stepped up their airstrikes over the Daraa Governorate, today, following the collapse of peace talks with the rebel delegation.
While the Russian Aerospace Forces concentrate on southern Daraa, the Syrian Arab Air Force (SyAAF) has focused their attention on the western part of the province, where their ground troops are engaged in a fierce battle with the rebels.
A field source told Al-Masdar News that the Russian and Syrian air forces have launched well over 60 airstrikes in the Daraa Governorate today, which is a significant increase given the absence of strikes in several parts of the province this week.
These airstrikes have proven effective for the Syrian troops on the ground, as they have managed to capture several points from the rebel forces today.
