BEIRUT, LEBANON (7:20 P.M.) – The Russian Air Force carried out a powerful attack over the Idlib Governorate on Thursday, as jets heavily concentrated on the jihadist movements throughout this region in northwestern Syria.
Led by their jets from the Hmeimim (var. Khmeimim) Airbase, the Russian Air Force launched an attack on a Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham base near the town of Ariha.
According to a Syrian Army source, the Russian Air Force not only struck the jihadist base, but they also hit an HTS gathering point near the strategic Idlib-Latakia Highway.
The source said several jihadist rebels were killed during the attack, including some of Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham’s military commanders.
This attack by the Russian Air Force was followed up by a string of airstrikes over the southern countryside of the Idlib Governorate.
In particular, the Russian Air Force concentrated on the jihadist rebel positions in the towns of Kafr Sijnah, Kafr Nabl, and Rakaya.
The Russian Air Force has recently stepped up their strikes over the Idlib Governorate recently, despite this week’s peace talks with their Turkish partners.
