BEIRUT, LEBANON (11:00 A.M.) – The Russian Air Force stepped up its attacks against the jihadist rebels in northwestern Syria on Friday, hitting several militant sites in the Latakia and Idlib governorates.
Led by their attack choppers, the Russian Air Force began their strikes on Thursday in the northeastern region of Latakia.
According to a Syrian Army source, the Russian Air Force heavily targeted the bases and hideouts of the Turkestan Islamic Party and Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham around the key town of Kabani.
The Russian Air Force is still striking Kabani at this time, while their allies from the Syrian Arab Army’s 4th Armored Division pepper the jihadist positions in Kabani with heavy artillery and surface-to-surface missiles.
Meanwhile, in the Idlib Governorate, the Russian Air Force’s jets have repeatedly struck Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham’s positions in and around the town of Rakaya, causing several explosions that could be heard as far as the Syrian Army’s front-lines.
The Russian Air Force has been heavily targeting Rakaya for the past week, as town is reportedly home to one of Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham’s main command centers in the Idlib Governorate.
