BEIRUT, LEBANON (9:50 A.M.) – The Russian Air Force resumed its large-scale aerial campaign over eastern Syria, Saturday, targeting the Islamic State’s (ISIL) positions at the Deir Ezzor and Homs governorates.

Starting with the Deir Ezzor Governorate, the Russian Air Force carried out a large number of airstrikes this morning, hitting several Islamic State targets inside the provincial capital.

Among the many targets for the Russian Air Force in Deir Ezzor was the Islamic State’s command-and-control center in the Al-Hawiqah District; this base was reportedly struck on a number of occasions this morning.

Following the airstrikes over the Deir Ezzor Governorate, returning jets carried out attacks along the Homs-Deir Ezzor Highway.

According to a military source in Palmyra, the Russian Air Force struck a number of Islamic State positions near the gas rich city of Sukhnah, today, inflicting heavy damage on the terrorist group’s defenses.
