BEIRUT, LEBANON (4:10 P.M.) – The Russian Air Force has resumed their aerial campaign over the Idlib Governorate this afternoon, following a heavy attack by the jihadist rebels on the Syrian Army-held town of Huwayz.
According to a military source in Hama, the Russian Air Force carried out over ten airstrikes over the southern countryside of Idlib, hitting a number of jihadist targets in the process.
The source said the Russian Air Force primarily concentrated their airstrikes on the key town of Khan Sheikhoun, which is less than 20km from the Syrian Arab Army’s (SAA) front-lines.
The Russian military had previously agreed to a 48-hour ceasefire with the Turkish regime after they rejected their pleas to force the Syrian Arab Army to retreat from all of the areas they captured.
However, since the jihadist rebels launched a new attack on northwestern Hama, the Russian Air Force has made the decision to resume their strikes on southern Idlib.
