BEIRUT, LEBANON (12:45 P.M.) – On Saturday, the Russian Air Force launched their largest attack of the month over the northwestern region of Syria.
Using both military choppers and jets, the Russian Air Force launched dozens of airstrikes over the positions of the jihadist factions in the Idlib, Latakia, and Hama governorates.
Beginning with the Idlib Governorate, the Russian Air Force launched a strategic operation to bomb a Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham convoy that was preparing to leave the Taftanaz Airbase near Idlib city.
According to a military source in Latakia, the Russian attack resulted in the death of tens of jihadists from Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham and their allied factions.
The Russian Air Force would then launch a plethora of strikes over southern and western Idlib, northwestern Hama, and northeastern Latakia.
The military source said this latest series of airstrikes of northwestern Syria is part of the Russian Armed Forces’ plan to clear the region of all jihadist factions.
At the same time, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) is still building up its forces in northwestern Syria, as they prepare to launch a large-scale operation to seal off the Latakia Governorate.
