BEIRUT, LEBANON (8:00 P.M.) – Russia plans to test the updated Ka-52M “Alligator” helicopter that will be installed with new weapons, according to the government procurement portal.
The National Center for Helicopter Engineering has published information on the purchase of equipment for the manufacture and testing of two Ka-52M helicopters. These models were created on the basis of mass production of the Ka-52 helicopters.
The modified aircraft includes new navigation and target navigation systems, as well as a fire control system and a communications system.
In addition, it will be equipped with a new cruise missile. Its name is now “Product 305”. The cost of the work is estimated at 153.5 million rubles.
In 2020, helicopters from mass production should be upgraded, and the deadline for the Ka-52M pilot test was set at the end of September 2022.
Upgrading the Ka-52 would allow new weapons to be used and identify targets at a greater distance. In addition, the helicopter will be equipped with additional fuel tanks, which will increase the range of the helicopter’s flight.
The Ka-52 is a reconnaissance and attack helicopter capable of carrying out combat missions in any weather and at any time of the day. It can be used not only to destroy tanks, military equipment and enemy manpower, but also to fight enemy helicopters and other aircraft.
