BEIRUT, LEBANON (3:00 P.M.) – Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu announced on Saturday that their forces had struck at least 122,000 terrorist facilities in Syria in the past three years.

“Russian Aerospace Defense Forces have made over 40,000 flights, including 21,000 flight in the nighttime, over the course of the operation in Syria and delivered strikes at around 122,000 terrorist facilities,” Shoigu began.

Furthermore, the Russian Defense Minister said that nearly 88,000 gunmen had been eliminated from 1,411 settlements inside Syria.

“Over the course of the operation, a total of more than 87,500 gunmen have been eliminated and 1,411 settlements and more than 95 percent of Syria’s territory has been liberated,” Sergei Shoigu was quoted as saying at the fifth Defense Ministers’ Meeting of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and ASEAN eight Dialogue Partners.

“Syria is now actively engaged in restoring the peaceful life,” he added.

The Russian military began their Syria campaign in late September 2015.

Since the Russian military entered Syria, the government forces have managed to retake most of the country, while also eliminating almost all of the Islamic State terrorists in the process.
