Russia is ready to deliver S-400 air defence systems to Iran, but it has not received a relevant request from Iran yet, the press service of the Russian Federal Service of Military-Technical Cooperation told Sputnik on Friday.

“We are open for discussions on delivering S-400 Triumph air defence systems, including to Iran. Especially given that this equipment is not subject to restrictions outlined in UN Security Council’s resolution, issued on June 20, 2015. We have not received an official request from our partners on this matter yet,” a representative of the press service said during the International Military-Technical Forum Army-2019, which is currently being held outside Moscow.

In late-May, Bloomberg reported, citing its sources, that Russia had refused to sell Iran its S-400 air defence systems.

According to the agency, Russia explained its decision by saying that such a move would escalate tensions in the region. The Iranian Foreign Ministry, however, refuted the report.

The 5th International Military-Technical Forum Army-2019 started in Patriot Park in the Moscow Region on Tuesday and will run until Sunday.

Up to 120 nations participated in the forum’s opening ceremony, which is twice more than in 2018. In addition, 101 foreign firms are partaking in the event. Rossiya Segodnya International Information Agency is an official media partner of the forum.

It would be a sad day for the Iranian people if their leaders decide to sell their sovereignty to the Russians by buying the S-400.

Nope : it will incite to remove the regime before the delivery, thus reducing the risk of useless air losses during a more risky SEAD operation, since Iran already has pretty serious air defences.
Thus, delivery can be very profitable since we could highly advertise Dassault’s Rafale which has it way more easy to go through such an IADS than F-35, F-22 or B-2, thanks to active stealth.

Iran does not need the worthless piece of s**t s400 that has never demonstrated effectiveness in any meaninful way. Piece of rubbish comes woth so many political strings attached it’s effectively a paperweight.

And you cannot use it on the Sabbath.

Actually, neither S-300, which is around since 1978, nor S-400 which is around since 2007 (in fact, S-400 is S-300 PMU4, they just found it cool to propose a new name), have been fired in combat, not even once. Considering that Pantsir is supposed to protect your S-300/400 batteries from being destroyed, that a Russian general bragged about Pantsir being unbeatable then we saw two IAI Harop which fly at only 185km/h the 2nd following the 1st, missed by at least 3 Pantsir missiles (you see the smoke from the 3rd still here when the 2 missiles miss) joyously doing… Read more »
