BEIRUT, LEBANON (10:40 A.M.) – The Russian Air Force let loose a large number of airstrikes over the mountaintop town of Kabani in northeastern Latakia last night.

Led by their Sukhoi jets, the Russian Air Force repeatedly hammered the jihadist stronghold, causing several explosions that could be heard throughout northeastern Latakia.

At the same time, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) unleashed a barrage of surface-to-surface missiles towards the jihadist defenses at the southern axis of Kabani.

This heavy assault by both the Syrian and Russian forces comes at the same time as the military amasses its troops at the southern slope of the Zuwayqat Mountain.

According to a military source in the area, the Syrian Arab Army, led by their 4th Armored Division and Republican Guard, will be launching a large-scale offensive soon to capture Kabani from the jihadist rebels of Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham and the Turkestan Islamic Party.

A large number of reinforcements have already arrived in northeastern Latakia this past weekend to take part in this imperative offensive.
