Periodic ceasefires have not been able to dissipate the violence that was recently ignited this morning in Gaza. According to the Spokesman for the Israeli Defense Forces, Israel responded to numerous rockets fired in the vicinity of Beersheba today by Hamas militants. The Israeli Air Force retaliated with multiple airstrikes in Gaza, claiming to have destroyed 3 Hamas targets. Israeli officials stated that at least 2 rockets have been intercepted by its Iron Dome system.
Minutes ago, a rocket landed in Ashdod, the sixth most densely populated city in Israel. Sirens have been going off intermittently in Israel, while all citizens have been alerted to seek shelter until further notice. Gaza is still under bombardment by the Israeli Air Force; though, the attacks are not as frequent as this morning.
The death toll in Gaza has reached 2,150 civilians, with both sides still seeking a permanent ceasefire agreement under certain preconditions.
