Saudi Foreign Minister Adel Al-Jubeir speaks during a joint news conference with his Jordanian counterpart Nasser Judeh at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Amman, Jordan, July 9, 2015.

BEIRUT, LEBANON (3:25 P.M.) – Reports began to surface on Friday that ‘Adel Al-Jubeir was removed from his role as Saudi Foreign Minister and replaced by the brother of the Crown Mohammad bin Salman.

However, it appears the sources behind the claims were spreading false rumors.

The initial report was released by a news site called Al-Ithad; it would later be reported by Israel’s I24 News before it made its rounds in English.

Al-Masdar briefly covered the rumor, citing the initial report from Al-Ithad; however, a well-informed Gulf journalist told Al-Masdar that the rumors were falsely spread in Arabic and hold no truth.

The Saudi regime never announced Jubeir was replaced nor was there any indication of any turmoil prior to the rumors.

Please treat this discussion with the same respect you would a public park. We, too, are a shared community resource — a place to share skills, knowledge and interests through ongoing conversation.

These are not hard and fast rules, merely guidelines to aid the human judgment of our community and keep this a clean and well-lighted place for civilized public discourse.

Improve the Discussion

Help us make this a great place for discussion by always working to improve the discussion in some way, however small. If you are not sure your post adds to the conversation, think over what you want to say and try again later.

Be Agreeable, Even When You Disagree

You may wish to respond to something by disagreeing with it. That’s fine. But remember to criticize ideas, not people. Please avoid:

  • Name-calling
  • Ad hominem attacks
  • Responding to a post’s tone instead of its actual content
  • Knee-jerk contradiction

Instead, provide reasoned counter-arguments that improve the conversation.
