Syria’s Al-Watan newspaper has reported that the Kurdish YPG-led Syrian Democratic Forces have requested help from the Syrian government and Russia in dealing with Turkey’s incursion into the country. To date, Turkey’s military, and it’s Free Syrian Army and Islamist proxies have captured scores of villages from the YPG.

This unusual request comes after the YPG and Kurdish police targeted the National Defense Force (NDF) in an unprovoked attack and evicted the NDF and Syrian Army from Hasakah as part of a peace deal.

The report also claimed that the Kurdish authorities were planning on conducting a census and then announce their ambitions to federalise their areas of control within a month. Effectively the Kurdish authorities are asking Damascus to fight Turkey and assist in the federalisation of Syria.

l**o…tell them to F off, the traitors. If they want help than they need to kill those US soldiers that are helping them kill the Syrian forces. Otherwise die like the dogs they are. I hope Turkey obliterates them all. They’re trying to divide the country while it’s broken, were never loyal to the Syrian leader and the army, and now they have the cheek to ask for assistance. Wtff?

You do understand the thoughts behind this request? The kurds are well aware neither Assad nor Russia will help them unless they make amends for their actions in Hasaka etc. That means they ask openly for help, won’t get it and will make a claim for separation to be able to help themselves. As easy as that…

Not dictate but use reason : US won’t help them to confront Turkey to not lose a NATO asset. If FSA takes al-Bab with Turkish help against the kurds, what will happen? Do you think Turkey will have more influence than the US above FSA-Qaeda? Surely not! Aleppo will have an eastern front for sure! In other terms, either Assad and Russia opt for a win-win situation or it’ll be a lose-lose situation and Gollum will build another Ottoman empire which will be AGAIN a problem for Russia and Europe. Rojava stated they’re for a federal state, not to depart… Read more »

Syrian Kurds need to align themselves, and work with the Syrian coalition.

That’s all they have to do in order to ensure most of the goals they wanted to achieve, and in fact were deceived by the US into believing they could achieve by themselves with US aid.

In Syria, you must work with other Syrians, not foreign antagonisers.

This is kurdish land… Just look at history : it was even forbidden to speak kurdish for 52 years and without Ataturk action, this state will exist for near a century. And there are more kurds than syrians : they are dispersed in Syria, Turkey, Iraq and Iran but they are 40 millions! Nonetheless, Syria is an artificial state drawn on a map with a ruler by what was supposed to be the temporary Sikes-Picot treaty which would have had to be replaced by something making sense like i.e. the Sèvres treaty or some other tries. It’s not a question… Read more »

What will they do then? Welcome to a caliphate!

The Kurdish census about a federation is democratic. And the Kurdish cantons are justified to ask Damascus as head of a possible federation for help against a foreign intruder. The past attacks on NDF and SAA were clearly illegal. Even in a federation the Kurdish regional forces must not attack federal troops. A common stance against Turkey as a foreign aggressor would IMHO help the unity of the Syrian republic.

Would Assad rather have a group in the north that wants to be apart of Syria, but autonomous, or a group that wants to overthrow his regime and set up an Islamic State? Hmm, that’s a tough one.

Can we please just all agree to everybody’s territorial integrity? I think the most we can reasonably accommodate would be a demographic majority state, by it just working out that way, with equality under the law, for all people. Diversity is a reality, and we need to find a way to make it work, for all people.

The scheme of CIA is clear now – just before dumping the Kurds they forced them to cause mayhem in Hasakah, trying to put them in conflict with Syrians. The Kurds have paid a heavy price. They should now go and help the SAA.

YPG/SDF didn’t worked with CIA! They’re working with the Pentagon and DIA. CIA supports the goatfuckers which, according to US laws is illegal. DoD goals are not the same as DoS, why d’you think DIA helps the Houthis in Yemen?
Remember CIA was allied with Mafia and anti-castrists in the JFK case…
Things are not as simple as black’n’white.
In many places, there were already clashes between Asayish (police) and NDF, it’s more a turf war between local forces, no need the US to fuel…

They didn’t dealt with DoS but with DoD. DoD made TuAF stop bombing them but as Turkey is behind FSA/Qaeda, DoD won’t be allowed to attack this portion of FSA because turkish troops are embeded with them and Turkey is still in NATO although they should be dropped : you’ve got to be a democracy to be in NATO, Turkey ain’t a democracy anymore. Now, if Assad is not an idiot and I don’t think he is, it’s not his interest to have FSA/Qaeda take al-Bab or Aleppo will have to sustain nnetheless a western front but an eastern front… Read more »

2. russia and saa could use a kurdish independent state, who would be their allies, to justifice their actions against turkish backed rebels, who destroy assad-syria and kurdish state. assad state could be pro russia and kurdish state pro usa/western.
both make their laws secular, open minded and antiislamic to position themself against rebelish islamic terrorist groups
