BEIRUT, LEBANON (2:20 P.M.) – The remains of the famous Israeli spy, Eli Cohen, are allegedly on the way back to Israel from Syria, Syrian opposition activists alleged on Sunday.
The claims come just two weeks after the remainins of Israeli soldier Zachary Baumel were returned to Israel from Syria, via the Russian Armed Forces.
Cohen was arguably one of the most successful spies in Israel’s history as he managed to infiltrate Syria’s political and military networks through his nom de guerre “Kamal Amin Thabet”.
Eventually, Cohen was caught in 1965 after Russian military advisers intercepted his communications, but his contributions during his time in Syria played a crucial role in the IDF’s victory over the Syrian Army during the 1967 Six-Day War.
Israeli officials have yet to comment on these rumors.
