BEIRUT, LEBANON (2:30 P.M.) – A Syrian refugee has been formally charged by Austrian courts for executing as many as 20 Syrian government soldiers in Homs before seeking asylum abroad.
“The 27 year-old man, who was arrested in western Austria in June, faces the charge of murder in the context of terrorism,” the BBC reported on Wednesday.
The refugee was arrested by the Austrian authorities after he bragged to fellow asylum seekers about executing several unarmed government soldiers while fighting with the Free Syrian Army’s “Al-Farouq Brigade” in Homs.
His fellow asylum seekers reported the Syrian man to the authorities after learning about his gruesome activities in Syria during the war.
The refugee is now facing a life term in prison if he is found guilty by the Austrian authorities.
