Moments ago, Aleppo’s Kurdish district is believed to have been struck by artillery shells consisting of chemical gas that spread upon impact. The mortal shells were reportedly fired from rebel-held neighbouring districts upon Sheikh Maqsood, which is controlled by Kurdish YPG.
A video has surfaced from the Sheikh Maqsood district, allegedly showing how several men were suffering from breathing difficulties due to the chemical attack. Furthermore, the camera man said the entire area was under chemical attack. He said 9 civilians were killed and 29 injured due to the attack.
Meanwhile, tens of Kurdish fighters have reportedly been admitted to the local hospital following the chemical gas attack. The victims were reportedly suffering from itching skin and other symptoms of a chemical poisoning.
This comes as Islamist fighters used yellow phosphorous in a chemical attack last month on the very same Sheikh Maqsood neighborhood, according to YPG official.
“We hereby inform you that on March 8, 2016 at 15:00, shelling [was carried out] with rockets that carry chemical material, which we believe to be yellow phosphorous chemical weapon, on Sheikh Maqsood neighborhood by the Syrian armed opposition factions and battalions,” Redur Xelilm, YPG’s spokesman, said in a statement.
