BEIRUT, LEBANON (12:10 A.M.) – The rebel forces launched a fresh attack against the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) in southeast Daraa tonight.
According to a military source in the government stronghold of Izra’a, the Free Syrian Army (FSA) and their allies launched a powerful attack on the Syrian Arab Army’s positions at the Barid Checkpoint that is located near the Sweida-Daraa axis.
The source added that the rebel forces managed to infiltrate the Syrian Arab Army’s defenses at the Barid Checkpoint; this prompted the government to send reinforcements from Sweida City to this front.
Not long after the rebel forces infiltrated their positions at the Sweida-Daraa axis, the Syrian Arab Army launched a counter-attack to retake the checkpoint and secure this area.
A number of militants were killed and wounded during the brief rebel assault, including several members of the Free Syrian Army and Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham.
The rebel attack was launched in response to the Syrian Arab Army’s large-scale offensive in northeast Daraa, which has already yielded big gains for the government.
