On Saturday in the southern Aleppo countryside, the extremist rebels of Jabhat Al-Nusra (Syrian Al-Qaeda group), Jund Al-Aqsa (Syrian Al-Qaeda group), Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham, Ajnad Al-Sham, Faylaq Al-Sham, and the Free Syrian Army’s “Division 16” launched a new offensive to capture the strategic town of Khan Touman.
The extremist rebels began their Khan Touman offensive by capturing the imperative village of Al-Khalidiyah after a violent battle with the pro-government forces.
Following the capture of Al-Khalidiyah, the extremist rebels attempted to seize the villages of Zaytan and Birnah near Khan Touman; however, this attack was repelled by the Syrian Armed Forces and their allies on Saturday night
Once the Khan Touman offensive was repelled, the Syrian Arab Army’s 154th Brigade of the 4th Mechanized Division – backed by Hezbollah, Harakat Al-Nujaba (Iraqi paramilitary unit), and the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) – imposed full control over the village of Al-Khalidiyah after losing it 12 hours prior to the extremist rebels of Jabhat Al-Nusra and their allies.
Currently, the entire southern Aleppo countryside is quiet, despite the occasional mortar shell or rocket that is exchanged by the pro-government and rebel forces.
