The Al-Qaeda linked “Al-Nusra Front” – in cooperation with the Free Syrian Army’s (FSA) “Southern Brigade” – has begun to press the Syrian Arab Army’s 5th Division in Al-Suhayliyyeh, capturing the farms adjacent to this northern Dara’a city near the Battalion 82 Headquarters.
Despite the Al-Nusra push outside of the Al-Suhayliyyeh, the 5th Division was able to recapture the Faroun Storage Facility located southwest of Al-Suhayliyyeh; this counterattack resulted in the death of 12 militants from the Al-Nusra Front.
North of Al-Suhayliyyeh, militants from the Al-Nusra Front and the FSA carried out a number of attacks in the villages of Dilli and Burqah – the rebels were able to make initial gains; however, the 5th Division was able to forestall their progress and regain their lost positions.
In the village of Al-‘Atash, the Al-Nusra Front attempted to infiltrate through the 5th Division’s defenses in the eastern part of the village – the infiltration attempt was repelled after the militants encountered heavy gunfire and artillery shells.
