BEIRUT, LEBANON (9:45 P.M.) – The main rebel forces in the East Ghouta region of east Damascus are once again fighting one another, local activists claimed on Monday.

Faylaq Al-Rahman reportedly carried out an attack against a group of Jaysh Al-Islam fighters inside the East Ghouta town of Kafr Batna on Monday, arresting an estimated 20 militants.

Among the rebel fighters arrested by Faylaq Al-Rahman was the Jaysh Al-Islam judge Talal Shattouh – he was part of a convoy heading to the town of Hazrama.

No reason was given for the abrupt attack and arrests by Faylaq Al-Rahman in the East Ghouta.

At the end of 2016, both Faylaq Al-Rahman and Jaysh Al-Islam had agreed to end the infighting in favor of fighting the Syrian Arab Army (SAA); this agreement appears to be short-lived as they are once again arresting and attacking each other.
