BEIRUT, LEBANON (5:10 P.M.) – The Free Syrian Army (FSA) launched a powerful attack against the Islamic State forces inside the Qalamoun Mountain region of rural Damascus on Thursday, striking the aforementioned terrorist group’s positions at the important mountaintop of Jabal Al-Arae’i.
Led by the Al-Shahid Ahmad Al-Abdo forces, the Free Syrian Army announced that their forces seized 4 strategic hilltops from the Islamic State on Thursday; this would later be confirmed with video footage from the region.
Free Syrian Army activists added on their social media accounts that at least 20 Islamic State militants were killed during the attack.
The Free Syrian Army has been fighting the Islamic State forces in the eastern Qalamoun Mountain region for quite some time now; however, their fight is often not detailed due to their occasional collaboration with the Syrian Armed Forces.
