BEIRUT, LEBANON (9:50 P.M.) – Russian President Vladimir Putin phoned Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad on Friday to congratulate him and the Syrian people for their victory in east Aleppo.
Putin reportedly told Assad that the liberation of Aleppo was a major step in his country’s fight against terrorism and triumph over elements going against the Syrian people.
This is the first correspondence between the two leaders since Assad made an official visit to Moscow earlier this year.
